SACHET's Emergency Response to IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) of Swat
Technical Assistance
On 16th May 2009, Dr.Rakhshinda Perveen (EVP, SACHET-Pakistan) and Dr. Jamshaid Gulzar (Head of Programs) attended a meeting at the Ministry of Human Rights to discuss the situation of Swat’s IDPs and find the ways to facilitate them.
Federal Minister of Human Rights Mr. Syed Mumtaz Alam Gillani chaired the meeting; representatives of a number of NGOs participated in the meeting. Dr. Rakhshinda Perveen emphasized on the development of early plan of action from the ministry so that NGO could develop their plan of action without duplication. Dr. Rakhshinda offered technical and medical assistance to NGOs, INGOs, UN agencies and to ministry on behalf of SACHET-Pakistan.
Service Delivery
On 16th May 2009, Dr. Rakhshinda Perveen had a meeting with MiRAS (Mobilization of Resources & Sustainability) Unit to coordinate with district Management authorities in response of the request letter from the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Capital Territory for the support of Food Items for the afectees of Swat, temporarily settled in a relief camp at Tarnol by the district management of Islamabad.
At 11:00 am initial coordination meeting held with Capt. Fareeduddin (Assistant Commissioner) in which it was decided that SACHET will provide necessary food items for atleast 30 families.
Immediately one month of ration containing following items delivered at collection site of Relief camp managed by district management ICT at Tarnol:
